Carpenter Fires 2-0 Shutout in Hokies Win Monday, June 8th , 2043 It was a smooth and solid performance by Denny Carpenter of the Virginia Tech Hokies against the Minnesota Golden Gophers today. He crafted a fine 2-hitter to blank the Golden Gophers 2-0. He chalked up 12 strikeouts and 4 walks along the way. "It certainly makes my job easy when my pitcher tosses a shutout," said Virginia Tech skipper Lance Powell. "I can just sit back, watch and enjoy."
