Minnesota Blanks Sun Devils, Adams Wins Friday, April 10th , 2054 Tom Adams led the Minnesota Golden Gophers to a shutout victory, 5-0, over the Arizona State Sun Devils at Packard Stadium. "My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Adams recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location." Adams yielded 5 hits and had 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in the standout performance. "I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Arizona State manager Augusto Padilla said.
