Sheppard Gets Award for Relief Work Friday, September 24th , 2049 He may only be 22, but Eric Sheppard of the San Juan Tigres has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Jeff Cole League. The reliever was today named the JCL Reliever of the Year Award winner for 2049. He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 7 saves in 31 relief appearances and 123 strikeouts in 92 innings. He had a record of 8-3 to go with his 1.76 ERA. He received 28 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Johnny Hunt of the Columbia Mavericks finished second in voting, while Ron Summers of the Peoria Cats finished third.
