League awards will be announced over the coming weeks, but while players head for vacations and the ballparks are empty, there is plenty going on behind the scenes. The offseason is a time for baseball's front office gurus to turn their attention to getting key players under contract, making financial decisions, and laying the groundwork for next year's campaign.
