Rippers Lose Late to Luchadores
|
Mexico City Luchadores pitcher Ángel Duarte was in fine form, leading his team past the London Rippers, 4-1. David García was the winner in relief. His record is now 2-2. The losing pitcher was Norman MacDonald. Darryl Day sewed up the save, his 2nd.
The Luchadores used some clutch hitting to beat the Rippers, a good example being the at-bat of Dave Smith in the bottom of the eighth. With two down, Smith gave his team the lead, 2-1, when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Ángel had good arm action, good stuff," said Mexico City manager Dick Davis.
With this game in the books, Mexico City is 38-44, London 38-45.
