Ducks Score Late to Upend Seals, 3-1
|
The Long Island Ducks downed the San Francisco Seals, 3-1, at Seals Stadium. The Ducks were led by Bob Ashley. Ashley was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Eric Blevins came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-2. With the victory, the Ducks record stands at 46-49.
Ashley had a timely hit for Long Island in the top of the ninth. With Long Island trailing 1-0, he turned a 2-1 fastball into a 3-run home run. It was his 14th home run of the season, making it 3-1, Long Island.
Ashley told a Long Island Observer reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
