Ducks Upend Rebels, 5-3
|
Rebels Park was the site of a competitive game between the Boston Rebels and Long Island Ducks.
Starting pitcher Alejandro Galván pitched well enough to help the Long Island Ducks beat the Boston Rebels, 5-3. Galván, now 1-0, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing no runs. José Romo earned the save, his 5th.
Long Island used the hitting of John McKinney to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Ducks on top, 4-0. For the game, McKinney had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said McKinney.
The last-place Rebels have lost 4 consecutive games.
