Rebels Stumble, Lose to Pharaohs
|
Boston designated hitter Colton Donnelly had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 8-4, to Fresno at Cougar Den. Donnelly went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Frank Briscoe, the winning pitcher, improved to 8-14. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Today's win puts Fresno at 64-71, while Boston falls to 57-78.
Victor Johnson had a big solo home run for the Pharaohs in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Fresno leading 5-4 and the bases empty, he sized up a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher José Chávez and punished it. The result was his 30th home run of the season, which put the Pharaohs on top, 6-4.
"The name of the game is scoring runs," Johnson said. "We did a good job of that today."
