Irvine Makes It 11 Straight with 5-3 Win
|
The Irvine Gang Green beat the Charm City Baysox by a score of 5-3. Irvine left fielder Victor Sampson deserved the lion's share of the credit. Sampson was 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Gang Green. Billy Walton earned his 4th save in 6 chances. Now 85-52, the Gang Green have won 11 games in a row.
Sampson had a timely hit for Irvine in the top of the eighth. With Irvine trailing 3-2, he turned a 0-2 slider into a 2-run double. It was his 12th double of the season, making it 4-3, Irvine.
"When you're winning, you walk a little taller," said Gang Green manager Fred McWalrick.
