Green Sox Trip Ducks, 6-4, in Extra Innings

The Lubbock Green Sox had to overcome a fine effort from Long Island pitcher Juan Reynoso to win, 6-4, at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace. Reynoso went 7 innings and allowed 4 runs. The win went to David Díaz in relief, making him now 8-1. José Romo took the loss for Long Island. The triumph puts Lubbock at 80-57 for the season.
Darren Downs came through with a big-time hit for Lubbock. The second baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 6-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I'm proud to wear a Lubbock jersey," Downs told the Lubbock Daily News. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
