Manager Román Gets Walking Papers in Lubbock Friday, September 3rd , 2055 Lubbock has fired manager Manolo Román. "We were not doing the things you've got to do every day," Green Sox general manager Ray Keith told reporters. "We saw that things were not going to change. We had huge expectations coming into the season and we did not live up to them." The current coaching staff will be assigned to run the ballclub in the interim until a new manager can be hired. Román was told of his dismissal yesterday morning and was not available for comment. The Lubbock spokesman called it a "sensitive and emotional" meeting with Román -- and would not discuss whether Román would be offered another job in the Green Sox system. |
