Bergeron Swats 3 Homers
Friday, July 16th , 2055
Donnie Bergeron went on an explosive hitting spree against the Calgary Mounties at Karaharisis Stadium, launching a trio of blasts to help the Spartanburg Spartans win, 18-10.
The catcher finished 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and 5 runs batted in.
"It was just one of those days," Bergeron said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball."
Calgary skipper Manuel Ortega said Bergeron was "locked-in."
"We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him."
Donnie Bergeron grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Adam Williams in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Walter Dunshea in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Alessio Gamossi in the 9th.
So far this year in 15 games, Bergeron is hitting .260 with 6 home runs, 15 RBIs and 10 runs scored.
