Thursday, August 12th , 2055
6 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 6 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Kyle Seals got his name recorded today, but the Eau Claire Esquires picked up the win at Williams Brice Stadium, topping the Calgary Cowboys, 16-8.
"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager Steve Sampson. "We were lucky to come out ahead."
Seals, who is tied for 7th in the NL in RBI with 86, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.
"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the first baseman said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."
Kyle Seals singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Sam Fleming in the 8th and hit a solo-shot off Jeremie Bragantini in the 9th.
This year, Seals has hit at a .246 clip with 113 hits, 37 home runs, 86 RBIs and 83 runs scored.
