The Seton Hall clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Martín Castro will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2054 College Baseball Roger Clemens Award.

Castro made 11 starts this year, winning 7 and losing 0. He threw 74.1 innings, fanned 75, allowed 68 hits and 29 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .236 average as he logged an impressive 1.70 ERA.

He received 58 first place votes out of a possible 74. Jim Lockhart of the Creighton Blue Jays finished second in voting with 15 first place votes, while Bill White of the Washington Huskies finished third with 1 first place vote.
