It was a parade of hits for Don Wood of the Iowa Hawkeyes at English Field.

Connecting almost every time he went to the plate, Wood finished the day with a total of 5 hits in 7 at-bats. His strong individual effort propelled the Hawkeyes to a win, 19-12.

"Wood was really good and we were really bad," groaned Hokies manager Tony O'Bryan. "Next time he's that hot, we'll just walk him."

Don Wood doubled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, flied out in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 6th, was hit by a pitch in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
