Mark Davis really sizzled at the plate in his team's 13-0 win over the Baylor Bears. The Virginia right fielder blistered Baylor for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Davis was too tough to get out today," the Bears skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
Mark Davis doubled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off Paul Dirks in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 9th.
Currently Davis is batting .357 with 15 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Sweet Sixteen Goes the Distance, Georgetown Prevails

It took a while, but the Georgetown Hoyas finally disposed of the Saint John's Red Storm 7-5 in the series clincher at Jack Kaiser Stadium.
Winning the finale gave the Hoyas the series, 2-1. They will now advance to the Elite 8.
The Most Valuable Player Award went to Georgetown left fielder Jack Weber. He batted .462 in the series, collecting 6 RBIs and scoring 4 runs.
The Elite 8 matchups and schedule will be announced after the Sweet Sixteen finishes.
