5-Hit Game for Velásquez
Penn State first baseman Juan Velásquez had a big day at Shipley Field against the Maryland Terrapins. The 21-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-6 and led to the 8-7 Nittany Lions triumph over Maryland.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Velásquez said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

Juan Velásquez singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and struck out in the 9th.

This year, Velásquez has hit 1 home run and posted a .333 batting average.
