Gardner Bewilders Cougars in 3-0 Shutout
|
Chris Gardner was sneaky fast, on the mark and hard to hit today. He led the Kansas Jayhawks to victory 3-0, blanking the Washington State Cougars on 5 hits. He had 3 walks and 9 strikeouts.
"You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," Washington State skipper Bill Sommer told reporters after the shutout loss. "He just had a real deceptive fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
Looking at his season stats, Gardner has won 3 and lost 1, collecting 43 strikeouts and 13 walks in 38.2 innings with a 1.86 ERA.
