Villarreal 5-for-8 for Volunteers
There are moments in a player's career that they will not soon forget.

Lonnie Villarreal of the Tennessee Volunteers had one such moment at Carolina Stadium today, when he went 5 for 8 at the plate. His hitting heroics weren't enough to pull out the victory, however, and Tennessee fell to a 8-7 defeat to the South Carolina Gamecocks.

"This was quite a day for me individually, but a little disheartening at the same time," the 21-year-old center fielder told reporters in the postgame interview. "It would have been very special if we had won the game."

Lonnie Villarreal flied out in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th, singled in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, singled in the 12th and hit a solo-shot off Glenn Francis in the 15th.

On the year Villarreal has hit .299 with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 10 runs.
