It wasn't easy but Bill McDermott made it look that way.
McDermott silenced the Texas Longhorns, 7-0, in a Maryland Terrapins triumph at Shipley Field. Despite the appearance of dominance, McDermott said that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 5 walks and 6 hits.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
To date this season, McDermott sports a 1-2 mark with a 5.09 ERA in 6 starting assignments. He has held the opposition to a .281 batting average and has 34 strikeouts in 35.1 innings.
