Great Effort by Machine 3B Walker Not Enough in 5-4 Loss
|
Arnold Walker did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago Machine from losing, 5-4, to the Greenville 84's at Old Comiskey Park. Walker slugged 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Glen Bainton, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-8. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 0. The 84's saw their record improve to 41-35.
Greenville used the bat of Felipe García to get the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the 84's ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I felt good up there," said García. "I saw the ball well."
