Agreement Reached: López to Play for North Stars

The Minnesota front office announced the signing of Israel López today as the team's new catcher. The 31-year-old came to terms with the North Stars and will be hauling in $6,100,000 a year over 3 years.

Injury Sidelines Felipe García For Year

The Maui Wave and their fans were rocked today by the news that star second baseman Felipe García would miss the rest of the season due to injury. García was hurt in a recent game against the Dallas Steers while running the bases. He was immediately removed from the game and taken for examination. Tests today revealed the injury was a torn anterior cruciate ligament. His doctors think that García will miss about 8-9 months.

Irvine's Melsom Injured, Out of Lineup

Michael Melsom had to leave the Gang Green game against Cervezas de Miami after suffering shoulder inflammation while throwing a pitch. He will be out of the lineup at least 5-6 months. He told reporters, "I just felt a sharp pain when it happened. I knew there was something wrong."
