BSA News Flash: Rule 5 Draft
Saturday, December 30th , 2056
Baseball Stars Association's Rule 5 draft will be held today. General managers should ensure that they have made all necessary roster moves prior to the start of the draft!

Rule 5 Draft Rules
--Only teams with empty slots on their expanded rosters can select a player in the draft.
--Players with more than 4 years of professional experience are eligible to be selected, unless they are protected on a team's expanded roster.
--Players drafted at the age of 18 or younger are protected for one additional year. They are eligible if they have more than 5 years of professional service.
--Each selected player must be kept on the selecting team's major league roster for the entire year, or be returned to his original team.
--Even if a selected player is subsequently traded, he must remain on that team's major league roster for the entire year.

Note: Eligible players are noted on the team transaction screen with a "#" symbol.
Rule 5 Gives Prospects Another Look
Saturday, December 30th , 2056
Today, teams will again participate in the Rule 5 draft, sifting through talents that may otherwise have little or no opportunity to play. Chosen candidates must be kept on the active roster all season or be offered back to their original teams. Uncertainty is coupled with the hopes of making a difference in expanded roles in Baseball Stars Association.
Pharaohs Star Wrecks One-Of-A-Kind Car
Friday, December 29th , 2056
Fresno star Julián Martínez is known for his hard-driving play on the field, but after what happened this week, he should probably drive a little more carefully on the roads.

The star reliever was driving late at night on a winding road and smashed right into a highway barrier. He escaped with only scrapes and bruises and is listed as day-to-day, but the bigger injuries are to his wallet and his pride--the car, which was completely totaled, was a custom-built luxury Audi valued at half a million dollars.

He angrily declined to take questions as he limped out of an Fresno-area hospital last night, but his publicist released the following statement: "Julián is happy to be home with his family, and knows how lucky he is to have escaped nearly unhurt. He will be more careful in the future, and he knows that cars, unlike people, can always be replaced."

Maybe so, but if he wants to be able to replace this one, he may need to drive a hard bargain when he next comes to the negotiating table.
