Upham on Fire, 5-for-5 Against Connecticut
|
Will Upham got the glory and the headlines today, but the Connecticut Huskies left with the win. The Virginia right fielder easily handled the Huskies pitching, going 5-for-5, but his Virginia Cavaliers came out on the short end of the 6-4 score.
Upham told BNN reporters in the postgame interview he would happily trade "three or four" of his hits for a win.
"Heck, maybe even all of them," he said with a laugh. "Right now, it just seems like one loss in a long season but who knows what it could mean at the end."
Will Upham singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Jesús Martínez in the 6th and singled in the 9th.
Upham is currently hitting at a .279 pace with 4 home runs, 25 RBIs and has scored 23 times.
