Coalition Drop Contest, 2-1, to Boston
|
The Boston Rebels and Columbus Coalition put on a pitchers' duel.
In a tight affair between the Boston Rebels and the Columbus Coalition, pitcher Michael Melsom was in the zone. The Boston right-hander helped his team win the game, 2-1. The Rebels now have a record of 39-43.
Marc Christensen had a big solo home run for the Rebels in the top of the fifth inning. With Boston leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Wes Slaughter and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 12th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rebels ahead, 2-0.
Afterward, Rebels manager Aaron Bailey was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
