Royales Lose Contest, 4-1

Pitcher Jesús Valdés was sensational for the St. Charles Sheens in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Montreal Royales. Valdés earned the win. Valdés, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up no walks. Alfred Molina got the save, the 3rd for him this season.
Glenn Lewis drove in one run for St. Charles. The 27-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Russ Roy. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"Got a lot of swings and misses today," said Valdés.
St. Charles, now 8-2, is setting the league on fire so far.
