Clement Swings Gang Green to 7-5 Win
|
The Irvine Gang Green beat the Sausalito Meatballs, 7-5, at Albert Park. Irvine center fielder Ken Clement had an outstanding performance. He was 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Salvador Ramos was the winner. He's now 5-5. The loser was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Tom Miller. Earning the save was Bob Prescott. He's now cashed in 23 of 25 save opportunities.
With Irvine leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Clement hit a splitter from Tom Miller for a bases-clearing triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Gang Green ahead, 4-0.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Irvine manager David Adams.
The first-place Gang Green have won 4 straight.
