Browns Drop Calrissian, 7-2
|
St. Louis second baseman Mark Cudlip was a significant contributor in his team's 7-2 triumph over the Orlando Calrissian. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 for the Browns. Denny Tomas picked up the win, lifting his record to 4-7 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 2 in 5.2 innings, while yielding 2 runs. St. Louis raised its record to 52-44 with the win.
St. Louis used a well-timed hit by Bryan Boyd to capture the win. The right fielder socked a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Browns ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Boyd told the St. Louis Daily. "It's as simple as that."
