Taylor Socks 84's in 5-3 Browns Win
|
The St. Louis Browns defeated the Greenville 84's, 5-3, at Michigan & Trumbull. Leading the charge for St. Louis was designated hitter Bill Taylor. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Ed Martin picked up the save for St. Louis, his 6th of the year. The St. Louis win streak is now 3 games.
Taylor contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for St. Louis in the top of the fourth. With his team trailing 2-1, Taylor took a slider from Glen Bainton and stroked the home run to right. His 16th home run of the season allowed the Browns to leap in front, 5-2.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Taylor. "And not try to do too much."
