Pedro Fernández said he expected the Round 1 to be "a battle from start to finish."

In the end, it was nothing more than a minor skirmish, as the Houston Hammertime encountered little resistance in sweeping the Waco Blue Cats, to advance to the Round 2.

"It may have been a sweep, but it still was a tough series," said Fernández.

Houston won the final game by a 14-4 count and were led in the series by Fernández, who was named MVP. On the series, he hit .471 with 3 home runs. He also drove in 7 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Houston Hammertime don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the New England Whalers - Olympia Marshalls series. That series is tied at 2 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
