Wildcard Round Game 1 Goes to Long Island, Thanks to Cooke
The Long Island Ducks started the Wildcard Round in style, downing the visiting Boston Rebels at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace by a score of 7-2 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Ducks shortstop Larry Cooke was 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.

Bob Ashley, who is rated as the 36th best prospect by BNN, chipped in a 3-run home run for Long Island in the bottom of the first. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.

"We're happy," Cooke told reporters after the win. "When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat every game like it could be your last."
