A strong performance from pitcher Tadasuke Tanabe was not enough for the Cleveland Fire, who were stopped by the visiting Maui Wave, 5-3, in Game 2 of the Wildcard Round. The Wave never truly figured out the right-handed Tanabe, who threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. Still, the Wave now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-5 series.

Yifu Tsui drew 2 walks in 4 plate appearances for Maui. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the eighth inning, Tsui, who finished 3rd in the BSA in on-base percentage with .410 in 2051, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Cleveland hurler Dudley Klein, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Wave a 4-3 lead.

"We ground out the win," said Tsui. "That's all that matters."

The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 2nd , 2054 at Oceanic Ballpark in Cleveland.
