The Irvine Gang Green moved to within one game of the Final Four, downing the Maui Wave on the road at Rainbow Stadium by a score of 4-1. Gang Green right-hander Matt Mathieu had a strong outing. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Gang Green a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 Elite Eight.

Maui had little success against Mathieu and his splitter. Mathieu tossed 94 pitches over 7.1 innings for the Gang Green.

Mathieu called the win "a lesson in teamwork."

Game 5 is scheduled for Tuesday at The Ballpark at Irvine in Irvine.
