Browns Hammered by Metcalf, Drop Game 2 to Gang Green
Irvine shortstop Paul Metcalf produced all the offense the Gang Green would need in the club's 10-3 win over the St. Louis Browns.

Metcalf was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4, while Irvine moved into a tie in the Elite Eight. The Gang Green and Browns are now even at 1-1 in the best-of-7 series.

A key moment came with one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when Metcalf hit a cutter from Darryl Corrigan for a 3-run home run, putting Irvine up, 6-0.

"This team is real focused right now," said Irvine manager Fred McWalrick.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Gateway Stadium in St. Louis.
