Seattle Admirals starter Vic Niekro turned in an exceptional performance against the Long Island Ducks at The Ship Yard, resulting in a Seattle win, 7-0. In 5 innings, Niekro surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. The Admirals have an impressive 75-24 record.

Melvin Beltré had a big 2-run triple for the Admirals in the bottom of the first inning. With Seattle leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a cutter from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Will Clark and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Admirals ahead, 3-0.
