Day Guns Down Rafters
|
The Salt River Rafters manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Scottsdale Scorpions. The Rafters were overpowered by Scottsdale starter Darryl Day, who hurled his club to victory, 2-0.
"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Eric Harrison said.
Over 9 innings, Day blanked Salt River on 8 hits with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Day said.
"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
For the year, Day has compiled a 2-3 record with a 5.53 ERA.
