Rebels Popped by Sextants, 12-4
|
The Queen City Sextants topped the Boston Rebels, 12-4, with designated hitter Jim Griffith playing a big role. Griffith went 3 for 4 with a triple, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Sextants in the win. Jesús Chávez picked up the win, lifting his record to 5-8 on the season. He struck out 4 and walked 4 in 7 innings, while yielding 4 runs. The loss makes Boston 61-41.
Jasiel Briceno had a big run-scoring double for the Sextants in the top of the fourth inning. With Queen City leading 3-2 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Iván Martínez, who finished 2nd in the BSA in ERA with 2.04 in 2049, and swatted a double to right. It was his 20th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sextants ahead, 4-2.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Griffith.
