All went well for Carlos López of the Newport News as he pitched his team to a 18-0 shutout victory over the Nashua Redlegs, limiting them to 3 hits. In the postgame interview, both managers had glowing things to say about López on the day.
"Carlos's got a good selection of pitches he can throw at a guy," said News manager Jorge Cruz. "He changes speed, gives different looks to different hitters. When he's on his game, he's quite a handful."
In the contest, the Newport right-hander rang up 18 and surrendered 1 walk.
"He didn't give us any second chances," said Redlegs manager Rick Allen. "It's a guessing game with him and today we were always guessing wrong."
For the year López has compiled a 14-5 record with a 3.33 ERA.
