Firebirds Score Late to Nip Green Sox, 4-3
|
The Phoenix Firebirds knocked off the Lubbock Green Sox, 4-3, in Baseball Stars Association action at Firebirds Field. Phoenix pitcher and Wood Dale, Illinois, native Matt Green had an outstanding performance. Ray Edwards claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 2-1. Phoenix is now 51-52, Lubbock 53-50.
The Firebirds got a clutch hit from second baseman Emery Fairman. In the bottom of the 15th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Firebirds.
"Winning never gets dull," said Fairman.
