Gang Green Absorb 6-5 Loss at Bronx Municipal Park
|
Irvine got a terrific game from center fielder Mike Brown. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New York, 6-5. Brown was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Dylan Newell, credited with the save, is now 25 for 26 in save opportunities. With the win, the Knights have a record of 41-64.
Samuel LeBlanc dealt the Gang Green a blow in the bottom of the second. Batting with a runner on 3rd and New York leading 5-3, LeBlanc, who is tied for 9th in the BSA in stolen bases with 32, hit a 1-2 splitter for a run-scoring single.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," LeBlanc told a New York Daily reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
