North Stars Popped by Kings, 6-4
|
Though the conditions were not ideal, the Kansas City Kings and Minnesota North Stars came back from a rain delay to finish their game.
The Kansas City Kings withstood a fine game by Minnesota center fielder Nate Foster at The Kallipolis, to upend the North Stars, 6-4. Foster went 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Luis Díaz got the win, improving to 11-2. He held the North Stars to 3 runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Jaime Cortéz recorded the save, making him 15 for 20.
Kansas City needed the clutch hitting of Eduardo Ángel to seal the deal. The second baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Kings on top, 5-3. For the game, Ángel had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I felt good up there," said Ángel. "I saw the ball well."
Kansas City, at 61-46, is 2½ games up in the Water Division.
