Green Sox Raise Rally Flag, Beat Oklahoma City, 5-1
|
Lubbock and Oklahoma City put this game in the books despite some rain.
The exploits of first baseman Hal Scrovegni, who finished 2nd in the BSA in slugging percentage with .674 last year, helped the Lubbock Green Sox defeat the Oklahoma City Outlaws, 5-1. Scrovegni went 2-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The defeat makes Oklahoma City 42-64.
Scrovegni had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-0 fastball from Jeff Hensley, he banged a 2-run home run to left-center, giving the Green Sox a 3-1 lead. It was the 34th home run of the year for Scrovegni.
Lubbock manager Dan Marshall said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
