Firebirds Handle Steers, Grab 4-2 Win
|
Firebirds left fielder Myron Shaw left his mark on his team's 4-2 win over the Dallas Steers. Shaw, who finished 5th in the BSA in home runs with 49 in 2051, went 2-3 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for Phoenix in the contest. Adrián Cruz picked up the win, lifting his record to 2-1 on the season. He struck out 8 and walked 1 in 7 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Matt Green nailed down his 1st save.
Catcher António Cuascut made an impact for Phoenix, when he swatted a 2-run double off Daniel Díanz in the bottom of the second. For the contest, Cuascut went 1-2 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
Said losing manager Mike Moore: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
The loss drops the Dallas record to a disappointing 4-7.
