North Stars Topple Seals with Late Rally
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Minnesota North Stars and San Francisco Seals.
The Minnesota North Stars weathered an outstanding game by San Francisco first baseman Neal Bennett to topple the Seals, 6-4. Bennett was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The winner was James Swanson in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Jorge Martínez took the loss.
The outcome might have been different for Minnesota, had it not been for Jason Austin, the 25-year old right fielder . Austin stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Minnesota up, 5-4. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Austin.
With the win, Minnesota raised its record to 62-51.
