Gang Green Win, 5-2, at Kansas City
|
Irvine first baseman Sixto Peña made his presence felt in the 5-2 Gang Green triumph over the Kansas City Kings. Peña went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2. Colton Bullard came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. His record now stands at 4-5. Rich Cervantes converted his 21st save in 24 tries.
Irvine relied on the hitting of Juan Águila to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Gang Green on top, 2-0. For the game, Águila had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Irvine manager David Adams. "It's usually not just one thing."
The Gang Green' win now puts them at 59-60.
