Ducks Score Late, Top Browns, 5-2
|
Long Island Ducks starter Dan Olson pitched his team past the St. Louis Browns, 5-2. Long Island reliever Angus Pankhurst picked up the win, upping his record to 7-4. António Mejía absorbed the loss. Emerson Davis got the save, his 26th in 32 chances.
Martin Richardson was 1 for 3 with a double for Long Island. The 29-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With no one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off António Mejía. It was his 66th RBI of the season.
"Dan did a good job keeping the game under control," said Long Island manager António Glaviz.
The setback makes St. Louis 75-48.
