The Minnesota North Stars topped the Irvine Gang Green, 7-5, with first baseman Allan Chaumont playing a big role. Chaumont went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the North Stars in the win. Markus Blackwell came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 7-3.

The game was all tied up in the top of the ninth, until Chaumont delivered big-time for Minnesota, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Rich Cervantes. The game-changing hit put the North Stars on top, 6-5.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Chaumont told the Minnesota Daily.

After today's action, Minnesota sits at 67-54, while Irvine falls to 73-49.
