Slumping Blue Crew Lose Again
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Greenville 84's and SoCal Blue Crew.
The SoCal Blue Crew were defeated, 3-2, by the Greenville 84's at Blue Crew Park, even though Joey Layman pitched well for SoCal. The winner in relief was Leonard Ames. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 3.2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-0. Herman Banks, who is tied for 4th in the BSA in saves with 31, earned the save for Greenville.
Greenville used the hitting of Héctor Accuro to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the 84's on top, 3-1. For the game, Accuro had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Greenville manager Jim Dunbar commended his team for "doing what it takes to win."
This loss makes it 7 in a row for SoCal.
