Sheens Rally For Late Win Over Knights
|
The 3-1 St. Charles win over New York was due in large part to Mike Carver. The Sheens left fielder went 2 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Octávio Colón, now 4-1, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. Jeremy Gottfried, credited with the save, is now 27 for 31 in save opportunities.
Carver had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Dylan Newell, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Sheens a 3-1 lead. It was the 28th home run of the year for Carver.
Carver said his team "played with determination."
The losing streak for New York has now reached 6 games.
