Harris Jacks Two Home Runs in 5-3 Irvine Win
The Irvine Gang Green trumped the St. Louis Browns, 5-3, at Gateway Stadium. Irvine first baseman Ron Harris was terrific. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Bob Prescott got credit for the save for Irvine. It was his 31st of the year. Their 85-42 record puts the Gang Green second in the Heart Division.

Estanislau Gandarei drew 1 walk for Irvine. The eight-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Víctor Sánchez. It was his 70th RBI of the season.

Irvine manager David Adams commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
