Williams Lifts Pelicans to 9-2 Win
|
Agent 47 Field was the site for Baseball Stars Association action featuring the Columbus Coalition and New Orleans Pelicans.
A good performance from first baseman Ken Williams helped the New Orleans Pelicans defeat the Columbus Coalition, 9-2. Williams went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 3 for the Pelicans. Jordan Bagnall earned the win to go to 8-12. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work.
New Orleans needed the clutch hitting of Danny Dodson to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Pelicans on top, 4-2. For the game, Dodson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Pelicans manager Stanley Briggs.
New Orleans is now 48-81. Columbus is 58-70.
